About Cuong
I live where theory meets practice. And I think that's exactly where good design happens.
I came to design through art. I stayed because of research.
My path started at the University of Architecture in Ho Chi Minh City, where I studied graphic design and first understood that visual decisions carry meaning. Then in 2022, I moved to Weimar, Germany to pursue an MFA in Media Art and Design at Bauhaus-Universität — one of the most influential design schools in the world. I focused on HCI and interface design, graduated with a 1.6, and wrote my thesis on UX for test management software.
That blend — art school roots, HCI research, real product shipping — is the thing I keep returning to. I read a lot of design theory. I also spend my days designing enterprise software used by millions. I don't think those two things are in tension. I think the best work comes from holding both.
Designing at the frontier of AI
I'm currently a Senior UX Design Specialist at SAP Business Network, where I lead conceptual design for agentic AI experiences — reimagining how enterprise transaction workflows can be driven by intelligent agents rather than manual multi-screen navigation. Two of those experiences were unveiled at Sapphire 2026.
Beyond shipping, I've been building the design infrastructure around this work: defining an AI experience evaluation framework grounded in HCI methods, establishing design principles and heuristics for agentic documents, and contributing to UX governance across product teams.
Leadership has been a through-line across my career. At Katalon, I built their first internal design system from scratch, grew the design team, and mentored designers from junior to senior level. I've done full-cycle hiring, partnered with engineering and product leads on roadmap decisions, and participated in a Design Manager shadowing program at SAP to build what I hope comes next. In 2026, I completed the Leading People and Teams specialization from the University of Michigan.
